LOCATION OF PROSPECTS AND LEADS, BLOCK 43, YEMEN
The structural traps are tilted fault blocks, mostly poorly defined by the available
seismic data and in some instances relying on multiple faults. Two of the
Prospects have a best estimate of recoverable volume in excess of 10 MMBbl but
both have a low GCoS (less than 10%). Risks include the lateral seals for the
Qishn Formation, reservoir quality for the Shuqra and Madbi Formations and the
Basement, and the distance to the mature source rock for targets north of the
Nabrajah field.
A 3D seismic survey covering the south-west of the Block and up to two
exploration wells are under discussion for 2015, but are not yet definite. One well
would be contingent on results on the 3D seismic, if it is acquired.
