Prospective Resources Summary
KE’s exploration portfolio contains a total of 45 Prospects, many of which contain multiple
reservoir targets that could be tested with a single exploration well. Abu Sennan in Egypt
accounts for 20 of the Prospects, nearly all with 2-4 reservoir targets. While individual
target volumes are modest, and the nature of any fluids (oil or gas-condensate) that may
be present in each target is uncertain, the chance of success in some parts of the license
area is considered by GCA to be relatively high. Two of the Prospects have significantly
larger but more risky secondary targets in deeper Jurassic rocks. In BEA, ERQ and
Area A in Egypt, there are a small number of Prospects adjacent to existing fields, which
again are of modest size but are considered by GCA to have a moderate to good chance
of success. There is a fairly large but high risk gas Prospect in Jherruck in Pakistan, but
elsewhere the Prospects are mostly both small and considered by GCA to be high risk.
GCA has not undertaken any economic analysis of the Prospects.
Additionally, a significant number of Leads have been identified by KE. Consistent with
the definition of a Lead, more work is needed before any of these could be ready to be
drilled; at the present time, most must be considered high risk and only a few are of
significant size.
In view of the very large number of Prospects and Leads in which KE holds an interest
(Table 0.13), GCA’s estimates of oil, condensate and gas Prospective Resources for the
various Prospects and Leads are shown in tables within the Discussion in Section 6 of
this report.
GCA notes that it will be possible to test only a fraction of these exploration targets before
expiration of the exploration licenses.
