communicating openly with the local government and community on health issues. Complying with applicable
laws and regulations and, where adequate laws do not exist, adopting and applying standards that reflect the
Group’s commitment to health;
evaluating health risks pertaining to the Group’s operations that have the potential to affect employees or the
public and implementing appropriate programmes to minimise as practicable these health risks;
establishing and ensuring that health management systems, which are designed to protect employees, are not
only followed, but promote working practices consistent with the health risks and exposures identified and
efficient operating conditions. Ensuring that operations and work activities are planned to minimise as
practicable, health risk;
providing competent resources to advise on relevant aspects of health, and evaluating at the time of employment
and afterwards as appropriate, the medical fitness of employees to carry out their work; and
providing training and instruction to personnel to enable them to perform their work consistent with methods
that minimise health exposure and undertaking reviews as appropriate of the progress and effectiveness of
activities in compliance with the above.
Safety
It is the commitment of the Group that the safety of its employees and the public is of primary importance. Consistent
with this, the Group is committed to:
promoting safety objectives and responsibilities as an integral part of the duties of management, and affording
the implementation of such measures the highest priority;
complying with applicable laws and regulations and, where adequate laws do not exist, adopting and applying
standards that reflect the Group’s commitment to safety;
evaluating hazards and risks pertaining to the Group’s operations that have the potential to affect the safety of
employees or the public and implementing appropriate control measures to minimise as practicable these risks;
establishing and ensuring that safety management systems, which are designed to protect employees are not
only followed, but promote safe working practices consistent with the safety risks and hazards identified, and
efficient operating conditions;
providing competent resources to advise on relevant aspects of safety and communicating openly with the local
governments and communities on health and safety issues; and
providing training and instruction to personnel to enable them to attain the knowledge and skill levels necessary
to perform their work consistent with the controls identified to manage risk and maintaining appropriate
emergency response plans.
