generator, there is a diesel driven generator available for essential supplies and start-up
loads. Water for the facilities is provided by road tankers. Other utilities include
instrument air system, water storage, drainage, chemical injection, high pressure (HP)
and LP flare, diesel storage and septic tank. The plant has its own control system with an
interface to Halewah for monitoring purposes.
The facilities at Al Nasr are designed to handle 40,000 bopd, 65,000 bpd total liquids and
up to 12 MMscfd gas. Pressure support at the field is provided by water injection, part of
which is imported from Halewah and Alif (Block 18). Produced gas is used for power
generation, gas lift or injection at Dhahab field. The facilities generally consist of
production and test separators (11,000 bopd); degassing boot and crude tank; crude
export and water injection pumps; compressors for vapour recovery and gas re-injection;
shutdown/blowdown systems within the overall control system; diesel and gas driven
generators; instrument air; drains system; chemical injection system; HP and LP flares
and diesel, chemical and water storage tanks.
Oil from the Al-Nasr and Dhahab facilities is pumped through a 12” pipeline to the
Halewah facility, where it is processed with oil produced from Halewah field. Pipeline
quality crude oil is exported from the Halewah facility by a 12” pipeline to a Lease
Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) unit at the Block 18 central processing plant. All
produced gas not consumed as fuel is re-injected into the producing reservoirs at Dhahab
and Halewah.
KE states that the facilities will be able to perform to the required standard throughout the
expected operational period. Should it be necessary to change or add equipment for new
production, then new equipment will be used. This new equipment will be of western
standard. Equipment servicing is scheduled and tracked by the Preventative
Maintenance Engineer on site, all maintenance and servicing work being in accordance
with manufacturers’ recommendations.
