SUMMARY OF KE RESPONSE TO QUESTIONNAIRE – YEMEN BLOCK 5
Block 5 is located in the west of Yemen, to the east of the capital Sana’a. It contains
three main producing oil fields, Halewah, Dhahab and Al Nasr, which came into
production in 1996, 1997 and 1999 respectively. Al Nasr has been developed with water
injection, while produced gas from all three fields is reinjected into Halewah and Dhahab
to maintain reservoir pressure. The Block is operated as a single entity with common
services and operating philosophy across all three fields.
In light of KE’s responses to a detailed questionnaire (summarized in the following
paragraphs), GCA judged that no site visit was necessary. Overall, the Block’s facilities
appear to have been constructed to a good standard and to be well maintained. All
statements below were provided by KE in March, 2013, and are unverified by GCA.
