Egypt has approximately 4 billion barrels of total proven oil reserves and 65 Tcf of proven natural gas reserves as at 31 December 2014*. Its total oil production averaged approximately 0.7 million bopd and its total gas production averaged 48.7 billion cubic metres.

Egyptian oil production primarily comes from five areas: the Gulf of Suez, the Nile Delta, the Western Desert, the Eastern Desert and the Mediterranean Sea. Since 2000, the Western Desert has emerged as the key oil producing region and that is where most of our fields are located.

The East Ras Qattara (ERQ) asset (acquired in 2008) with a 49.5% revenue interest, the Abu Sennan asset (acquired in 2007) with a 50% revenue interest and the Burg El Arab asset (acquired in 2006) with a current revenue interest of 100%, are located in the Western Desert. Our Area A asset (acquired in 2008) where we have a 70% revenue interest is located in the Eastern Desert. We are the operator in three of the four producing assets.

As a continuation to our value enhancement, we have development plans focused on drilling further wells to improve and maintain production. An enhancement project that we have completed, is the Abu Sennan Gas Plant. The plant allowed for optimum utilisation of the hydrocarbons in the Abu Sennan field. The associated gas is captured and processed for domestic use, and at the same time allows for the field's total oil production capacity. The capturing of gas also shows our commitment towards the environment by eliminating gas flaring.

The commissioning of the gas plant was the result of the excellent relationship between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Kuwait Energy, our main partners in Egypt, as we worked together to deliver the project in record time and with minimal costs.

Egypt accounts for 31 mmboe, or 4% of our 2P working interest reserves as at 31 December 2015.
